JOB TITLE: BUYER REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF PURCHASING HOURS: Full Time, Non-Exempt, Monday thru Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. (flexible within these parameters) WAGE: Negotiable, based on experience
Position Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining inventory on assigned product lines to meet Customer demand on a consistent basis while meeting competency and performance standards; and contributing to Customer satisfaction.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a working relationship with all personnel in order to optimize sales with present and prospective Customers.
Communicate changes in market conditions to Director of Purchasing, Sales Management, and others affected on a timely basis.
Recommend special programs, promotions, and new product ideas as warranted to the Sales personnel.
Work with Customer Service Representatives and Food Service Consultants resolving problems associated with products and services.
Address all Customer complaints, including possible direct Customer contact when needed.
Attend distributor shows and sales meetings as directed management.
Utilize and apply all professional purchasing tools in an appropriate and effective manner.
Maintain a professional Company image, including office and personal appearance.
Perform standard administrative responsibilities of a Buyer.
Other duties as assigned by management.
WORK RELATIONSHIPS AND SCOPE: This position works with Customers and vendors to ensure that inventory for assigned product lines is responsive to customer demand. In addition, Buyer will see that proper quantities are on hand to meet customer demand, without excess inventory amounts, at all times. Coordinates with Customer Service Representatives, Food Service Consultants, and sales management to help achieve exceptional Customer service where the inventory is involved. Direct Customer contact may be required with key and contract Customers. All requirements are subject to change over time at the discretion of management.

Accomplish a service level of at least 99% in assigned product lines.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a typical interior office environment. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours. There will be some variation in work hours due to employee shift schedules, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns. Limited physical effort required. Very limited exposure to physical risk. Business casual to professional attire is required, as outlined by company policy. Some overnight travel may be required on occasion.
