Job Title: Payroll Assistant, Part Time, 15-25 hours per week Reports to: HR / Payroll Manager FLSA Status:Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (some flexibility within these parameters; must be able to consistently work Mondays and Fridays) Base Rate: $16.50/hour POSITION SUMMARY: The Payroll Assistant supports the payroll process by collecting and entering employee data, verifying timecards, processing changes to records, preparing payroll runs and completing reporting once the payroll process is completed. Provide administrative support to the HR/Payroll Department by documenting, tracking, maintaining, and disposing of confidential Payroll & HR related information. This role requires a high level of confidentiality, strong attention to detail, accuracy, and familiarity with payroll software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Data entry and verification: Enter and validate employee data, such as hours worked, overtime, and other coded hours and earnings.
Payroll processing: Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Record maintenance: Update and maintain employee payroll records and files, including new hires, terminations, and changes to personal information, tax withholding, or benefits.
Inquiry resolution: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and pay discrepancies.
Reporting: Responsible for running a variety of scheduled and unscheduled reports; maintaining spreadsheets, as assigned.
Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive payroll and employee information.
Teamwork: Contribute to team efforts by supporting initiatives, completing additional related duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Technical skills: Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel is crucial.
Attention to detail: A high level of accuracy is necessary to prevent errors in payroll processing.
Organizational skills: Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize while remaining flexible. Detail and deadline oriented.
Communication: The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees is important.
Education: High school diploma with strong math and computer skills is required.
Knowledge: A basic understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance is preferred.
Confidentiality: Capable of dealing with highly personal and sensitive information with discretion and grace.
Relationships: Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with a variety of personalities, including all employees, management, and supporting vendors.
Focus: Capacity to work with minimal supervision, staying focused with normal distractions, without distracting others.
Knowledge of HR and Payroll processes, ADP and/or HRIS software is helpful.

EDUCATION LEVEL: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school, technical and/or college course work related to the job duties and knowledge/skills required for the position. Clerical/administrative support work experience may substitute for required college or technical course work.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a typical interior office environment. Includes working independently and as part of a team. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours. Business casual attire. Please note: this position involves regularly navigating between two locations and a facility that has a large footprint and a three-story building that is not accessible by elevator or ramp.
