POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for providing administrative support to the Nutrition Services Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
Facilitate USDA commodity orders (Direct Delivery & Direct Diversion) with customers.
Set up and track Direct Diversion customers, items, and activity within this process.
Process Direct Delivery commodity items and orders from start to finish.
Communicate with customers on school related subjects.
WORK RELATIONSHIPS AND SCOPE The School Commodity Specialist will have regular interactions with Nutrition Services Manager, Nutrition Services Department, Sales department, customers, vendors, and other office staff. Works closely with office and administrative personnel regarding daily activities. All requirements are subject to change over time at the discretion of management.

EDUCATION LEVEL Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school, technical and/or college course work related to the job duties and knowledge/skills required for the position. Clerical/administrative support work experience may substitute for required college or technical course work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills.
Ability to interact well with as well as establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with staff from other departments and suppliers.
Proficient at data entry and 10-key, proof-reading, multi-tasking; detail and deadline-oriented.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, stay focused with normal distractions and without distracting others.
Proficient in using standard office computer software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word) and Internet.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is normally performed in a typical interior office environment. Includes working independently and as part of a team. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours.
