Bacon Pricing Update Bacon prices are on the rise because of Prop 12 in CA. Voters in CA voted in Prop 12 a few years ago which mandates all further processed pork sold in CA (retail and foodservice) comes from Happy Hogs. Hogs must be able to stand, lay down and turn around without making any contact with the crate they are held in. After a years-long battle in court, this went live in CA in July with very short notice after the ruling. Every retailer and foodservice distributor that sells into CA bought just about everything they could just to have product to sell. Many packers, such as Smithfield (that packs Rangeline) were not prepared and did pretty much nothing to stop the onslaught of orders. IFD is on allocation on sausage/bacon and hot dogs from Smithfield right now. This buy-in also affected other items such as Butts/Loins and Ribs. Pricing on those items peaked but have come back down already. It is believed the Belly market has reached the top and will be resetting very soon. Relief has already been seen. Operators should try to keep their inventory as tight as possible as the market comes down.
There are also some other factors such as the carcass weights being down this time of year due to the heat. They then need to kill more head to make up the difference. Some plants have closed in US/CA/UK that have lowered overall capacity. Also, as the packers catch up on harvesting and re-fill their coolers/freezers, there will be a decrease in overall harvest levels. For more information, click the links below.

Advanced Food Products (AFP) As a result of unprecedented supply chain disruptions, combined with a nationwide labor shortage, we are temporarily pausing distribution of our products to your account effective immediately. This pause will be in effect as of today October 20, 2021 through Monday January 17th, 2022. Read the full update here.
Updated November 29 Here at AFP we have continued to experience unprecedented increases in manufacturing, ingredient, transportation, and labor costs. These industry-wide cost increases have accelerated in the recent months and are anticipated to remain at elevated levels. As a result of these cost increases, we are announcing an 16.5% price increase across our portfolio of products. These price increases will be effective February 1, 2022.
December 21 Update AFP is still experiencing supply chain and ingredient challenges. We are still in the process of qualifying the solutions that we have identified. We are not yet able to provide a date where we can restart supplying your business. Read the full update here.
February 2022 Update We continue to make significant progress as it pertains to identifying solutions to our ingredient challenges. We are hopeful to have clarity regarding those solutions in the coming weeks. Full implementation of these solutions will likely not be realized until the second half of 2022.
April 2022 Update We continue to experience unprecedented supply chain challenges that prevent us from meeting the current marketplace demand for our products. The recent Omicron surge has greatly impacted our suppliers’ ability to produce the ingredients and packaging materials necessary to meet demand for our products. Staffing shortages in their plants are the root cause of this particular challenge. While these staffing shortages due directly to Omicron have subsided, the labor market for manufacturing remains extremely tight and our suppliers are working to catch up from lost production. We currently do not have a firm date when we will be back in full supply. This is due to the unprecedented nature of the current global supply chain situation.
June 2022 Update We continue to make significant progress as it pertains to identifying solutions to our ingredient challenges. We are hopeful to have clarity regarding those solutions in the coming weeks. Full implementation of these solutions will likely not be realized until the fall of 2022. Please know we are working diligently to get back into supply as quickly as possible. We will communicate any potential changes to our tentative timeline.

November 2 Update Due to the unprecedented cost increases impacting our business related to the continuing Covid-19 crisis, we are forced to take price increases effective January 1st, 2022. July 2022 Update It is with great disappointment that I am writing to inform you that effective immediately Apple & Eve branded 125ml & 200ml products will not be available to the food service channel, including K-12, through June 30th 2023. Read the full update here.

Arlington Valley Farms In order for our new automated packaging equipment to handle this significant increase in volume, we had to slightly modify our overwrap to a "saddle bag" where there are 2 Snack'n Waffles separated by a perforation, which can be easily separated by tearing along the perforation
April 3 Update In an effort to continue to be transparent, we wanted to provide an update regarding our new Snack'n Waffle "saddle pack" packaging, which again was a design that was implemented to handle the substantial increase in supply from our new line over the last few months
July 2022 Update As I mentioned in my prior emails (see below), we received some initial complaints regarding the perforation between the waffles with our new "saddle bag" packaging and we're happy to say we heard you! Our outstanding operations team worked quickly to address the perforation issue and the waffles are now very easy to separate with no tearing of either package as you can see in this short video here. Snack'n Waffles have always been the same fantastic product, which is why we made the packaging fix a huge priority especially ahead of this upcoming school year!
In terms of Snack'n Waffle capacity, we continue to make all our waffles from scratch and have more than tripled production over the last 9 months. We still have plenty of room to expand further, so we do not foresee any issue with supply going forward. We wanted to mention this since availability of IW breakfast items seems to be very sparse especially with the premium quality and convenience of Snack'n Waffles.
We are very grateful for your support and look forward to continuing our partnership!

Ukraine is the single largest producer of sunflower oil in the world, and the war has caused their ports to be locked down. Nemco Food Trading The ocean freight situation, which we expected to improve, has gotten significantly worse. At this time, we regretfully must declare a broad force majeure with regards to all current price lists, bids, and any contracts we have in place. What that means is that all purchase orders must have their prices re-evaluated based on the current cost of ocean freight.
Nestle Nestlé Professional is committed to supporting our customers during this unprecedented supply chain environment. We have decided not to offer the Nestlé Coffee mate® Seasonal Limited Time Offer portfolio for the 2022 season. While we know there is a lot of excitement around our seasonal flavors, we will prioritize servicing our core Nestlé Coffee mate® SKUs to ensure order fulfillment.
Nordic Group April 2022 Update Recent world events are affecting our business in various ways. Our supply channels are under renewed stress of raw material shortages which invariably leads to price increases. We have been forced to adjust our prices on Cod and European Lakefish in order to help our suppliers stay competitive in accessing the raw material to keep the production going for us. Sanctions and duty barriers are changing the established supply pattern making it very difficult to forecast the supply, but we continue to do what we can to keep our customers with product. We thank you for your patience and understanding in dealing with this situation.
May 31 Update Dear Customers and Sales Team: We are issuing a new pricelist that seeks to adjust to the rising costs of products that are directly associated with the effects of the sanctions against Russia. The already stressed out supply chain has been further compromised by these sanctions. Lake fish In the Lake fish category we have lost the supply of Russian Lake Perch. All there is left to work with is what can be procured in Estonia, probably less than half of the normal supply. We started to adjust for that already in April, but it was not enough, buyers in Europe and here are scrambling for their share of the reduced supply. Cod On Cod we have a situation where US, Canada and UK have banned the direct import of Russian Cod. The latest round of sanctions in Europe now also prohibits Russian transport vessels from discharging in Norway and EU ports and shipping out from Russia in containers has become increasingly difficult with major shipping companies cancelling Russian ports. Getting raw material to China is taking twice the time it took before. This all happened at a time where the main landing season was pretty much over in Norway and the result has been a dramatic rise in the value of Cod raw material for processing. With the European buyers competing for supply of Cod in Norway, Iceland, Greenland and Canada, processors in the rest of the world are left to compete for the Russian Cod. Add to that the news that Russian vessels are now landing more of their catch in Russia. Import of fish and seafood to Russia has stopped and there is now a need to have supply from their own fisheries in the months to come. That means less available for the world market. We do not expect to see this situation improve, neither on supply nor on price of that material. It may very well get worse.
Our supply partners in China are doing all they can to keep us supplied, but they are having problems with accessing enough raw material for ongoing production. It means that we shall have inconsistent supply of Cod products in the months to come. The escalation of prices is severe, but as long as we are willing to pay what it takes to get supply, we shall have products coming.
We are doing the best we can, paying the cost to be competitive in our procurement, so that we can serve your needs best possible. We have been able to restock Iceland FAS Cod Fillets 16/32 oz packed 2x20 lbs and look forward to servicing your needs on that again. The price on that item was pushed up by the strong demand in the UK where import of Russian FAS product was subject to a 35% duty and now will be banned.
Haddock On a positive note, we have been able to reduce the price of our IQF Haddock Fillets and Loins and look forward to our customers take advantage of good supply of Haddock.
Salmon Our Salmon prices remain unchanged for June, but replacement is costing us more so there will be a price increase in July. June will be a good time to stock up for the summer.
We value your loyalty and your business and thank you for being patient with us.
Sincerely, Terje Korsnes President
Ocean Spray Cranberries We are writing to update you on our 1.16z CRAISINS® package group that has been challenged by a combination of historic demand, limited materials, and production capacity. We are expecting intermittent service interruptions on both or our Cherry & Strawberry flavors through the balance of October.
Olsen Fish Historically, our herring has been harvested and shipped from New Foundland. We have also sourced herring from Norway to provdie a certified sustainable herring in recent years along with supplementing the shortfalls of available herring from Canada. We are stuck in a perfect storm because the fishery in Canada has yet to harvest a single ton of herring.
The situation is frim for the short term and could not come at a worse time for the herring sales during holiday season. Unfortunately, we have exhausted all of our efforts and must now start pushing back orders and shorting some products on orders until our herring can be replenished.
Oregon Potato Company We are seeing significant challenges with appointments and service from our third party cold storage providers. This industry has been extremely impacted with staffing shortages. Most are operating far fewer dock doors than they have available. This is reducing the available appointment times each day. This has led to longer lead times for appointments and frustration for all parties. Most warehouses are out 14 to 20 days for appointments. We are encouraging and stressing all customers provide at least 15 business day lead time on orders.
Propel On March 22nd, a fire broke out at our production and distribution facility in Piscataway, New Jersey. After assessing the state of the facility and the finished inventory in the warehouse, in addition to continued supply challenges across the total network, our Propel 500ml and 710ml businesses will be further constrained given the Piscataway plant’s contribution to Propel production.

Rangeline sausage products remain available in full supply.

Rich's As we continue to recover from the pandemic and see more restrictions relaxed, we have experienced a significant demand increase on our par fry business – French Toast Sticks, Cheese and Seafood products. Labor volatility, increases in supply chain lead times and ingredient shortages have impacted our business as well. Due to these factors, par fry products will be servicing below our targeted standards through Q1 2022.
November 5 Update While Rich’s continually strives to provide exceptional value for our products, these rising costs across virtually every facet of our supply chain mean we are unable to absorb the sharp cost increases we continue to face. Therefore, we’ll be implementing a price increase adjustment, effective January 31, 2022.
February 24 Update we are moving to a monthly allocation process on these product groups and product codes through the end of 2022. We believe these efforts will allow us to focus on improving service levels against core product portfolios and limit the extent of service disruptions during this challenging time.

April Update Unprecedented levels of disruption continue to impact the market, requiring sustained resilience and agility in supply chains. Skyrocketing commodity costs, ingredient shortages, demand surges, warehousing and distribution challenges, the global pandemic and now new worldwide uncertainty with the Russia-Ukraine conflict are all driving what’s being called “the greatest supply chain disruption.” And while Rich’s global supply chain remains strong, we must continue to take action to combat today’s market realities and dynamics.

August 2022 Update We are writing to inform you of an upcoming product code transition made necessary by the impending change to the ingredient and allergen statements for a few pizza products. As a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine, the supply of sunflower oil, which is used in this product as a pan releasing agent, has been restricted. Therefore, we must switch to a new pan releasing agent and that change introduces a new SOY allergen to the product.

As a result, you should expect additional delays in shipment(s).
What’s In Progress: Americold is rapidly working to resolve this situation and continues to keep us updated on their progress, however, these short-term delays are expected to continue at least through the remainder of this week. If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to your Rich’s sales representative.

Smucker's As we settle ourselves into a new school year, our industry is again faced with a high degree of uncertainty and unprecedented circumstances brought on by COVID-19. We at Smucker’s would like to thank our customers and supporting agencies for their heroic efforts and resilience in serving children and families through such challenging times. We will be asking distribution to put a hold on all commercial sales of our Uncrustables so the K12 segment is able to receive the product as forecasted.
With Portion Control volume and select Spreads rapidly approaching and, in some cases, exceeding pre-pandemic levels, we are placing the following items on a soft allocation. This process ensures proactive communication, committed quantities from Smucker, and a steady supply to better service your needs. Customers should expect to receive quantities similar to cases shipped over the last several months, and the soft allocation supports over shipping when excess product becomes available.

Snack'n Waffles Lead times have recently increased significantly with any new orders now running 8+ weeks due to a substantial unforeseen increase in demand over the last few weeks. The good news is we had the foresight to order a new Snack’n Waffle line 1.5 years ago and officially commissioned it last week. This new line will increase our capacity by 4x once we have all of our key equipment in place, which will hopefully be within the next month, and will help to quickly reduce our lead times back to the standard 2 weeks. We truly value all of your support and patience as we are pushing our team to limits to maximize near-term output.
Sparboe Companies We are reaching out to notify you about potential egg supply disruption due to the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in the US, and particularly in the region where we operate.

Superior Fresh Our goal is to be a reliable anchor in your fresh produce program. Unfortunately, some of these forementioned challenges are obstacles that reduce the reliability you deserve and prevent us from providing the service levels needed to support a full program within the foodservice segment. February 2022 Update We of course are seeing a better harvest so far in 2022 then we did last year, as last year all of the processors had Covid 19 issues not only on the vessels but in their land based plants as well. So far as of 2 weeks ago we had landed 3% of the over all quota for 2022.

May 2022 Update With production starting to stabilize we are continuing to see strong fill rates on our battered/breaded items as well as our surimi seafood items. Alaska Pollock 2022 A season production was better than expected and we did see at the end of the season some unexpected IQF production which was very nice to see. This has allowed us to build some of our inventory on this key item. We are looking forward to B season starting in a few weeks and to be able to continue to build our inventory’s with IQF Fillets, Block & Surimi.
Alaska Pacific Cod We currently have our Shatter Pack Cod available for shipment out of New Cold and we have 8-16, 16-32 & 32up available for immediate sell. I do not anticipate these being available after June so please get your orders in now as the next Fishery does not open until September. However, most of the shatter pack (around 80%) is traditionally put up in A Season, so there will not be much available from B Season.
October 2022 Update We are pleased to share with you that Trident Seafoods went live with our new SAP system for our US operations on Sunday, October 2nd. We are now operating in a hyper care period, focused on business continuity, and while slightly slower than anticipated, are working to accurately process, confirm and ship orders as expeditiously as possible. Nonetheless, we are processing and shipping orders.
We continue to feel the effects of unprecedented consumer demand and a very dynamic retail environment on our 10oz Tropicana Ambient Portfolio. In an effort to maintain predictable service levels, we will institute an allocation process on all Tropicana Ambient 10oz items through June 11, 2022. This allocation process will be based on customer’s historical orders, overall percent of business, and will account for recent growth. The process will begin with orders shipping January 31, 2022.

October 26th Update Due to unprecedented supply chain issues and continued labor shortages, Tyson has made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend production of a handful of Beef and Pork products.

United Sugars Corporation United Sugars has notified of a change in powdered sugar products due to the current shortage of corn starch in the US. I want to make you aware of some of the reasons that you have seen shortages on the Upstate Farms label products over the past few weeks. The key drivers of these shortages are raw materials and packaging. We have always been mindful of controlling our inventory to ensure consistent supply of product to our customer.
Commodity Oils Market Update The year 2021 has continually shown surprising and unprecedented volatility and has made the year adventurous for traders as well as customers. It is looking like the new year will also provide firm pricing and some product tightness. The Canola crop harvest was very short which will limit supply and put pressure on other oils to make up for the shortfall. The Government mandates for biofuels may have a large impact on Soy Oils in the future. The supply of Cottonseed will remain weak for the upcoming and the supply of all High Oleic Oilseeds will remain extremely tight for the pack-year. Traders are uncertain of how the markets will react in the coming months based on the many unknown factors which impact costs. We do know that supply and demand will be closely monitored by Suppliers and that prices will not be returning down to historic levels any time soon.
Ventura Ventura Foods’ modified food starch suppliers recently imposed allocations on the products they provide to us. Unfortunately, this will require us to impose similar allocations on our finished goods that contain modified food starch. We will communicate any potential allocation impact on your finished goods in the upcoming days as we receive more information from our suppliers. We anticipate these allocations will last for 8 to 12 weeks. Read the full update here.

May 2022 Update Unfortunately, as a result, Ventura Foods will likely experience supply disruptions when producing Shortening and other Canola based products. To manage distribution and expectations we have begun the process of allocation. Read the full update here.
May 2022 Update Due to weather-related shutdowns that are affecting Canadian processors, canola oil supply has become highly constrained. This has impacted our ability to satisfy customer orders at a number of manufacturing locations. We believe this situation will continue until weather conditions improve and processors resume normal shipments.
May 23, 2022 Update Ventura Foods has been notified of a shortage of maltodextrin, a key ingredient used as a thickener and sweetener in the finished goods we provide for you. Read the full update here.
July 12, 2022 Update Ventura Foods is experiencing an interesterified palm oil shortage due to a downstream supply disruption of sodium methylate. Sodium methylate serves as a catalyst for the production of interesterified palm oil, a key ingredient in the margarine products we provide to you. These market conditions will force Ventura Foods to implement allocations on some margarine products through the fall. For these reasons, we cannot support incremental volume until further notice.
September 2022 Update Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to stabilize lidding supply on the 5g portion control (PC) margarine we manufacture. Unfortunately, due to paper supply delays and other ongoing production challenges, our lidding supplier has put us on allocation. For the past several months, they have struggled to fulfill our demand requirements. Our current lidding supply is now materially below historical demand levels.
June 2023 Update Every product we manufacture is assigned a temperature range by our Quality Assurance group for storage and shipment. As a result, the use of temperature controlled and/or protective service trailers are required to maintain the quality of the product(s). We have a standing distribution policy to inspect and reject a transport trailer if it cannot meet the specified temperature range and ensure a high level of product quality. Westminster As you may be aware, we continue to struggle to meet demand for our best-in-class oyster and saltine crackers. As a result, Westminster is suspending production on the following foodservice items.
Wild Mike's The current climate has caused us to evaluate how can we get more pizza servings out to the K-12 industry. In our evaluation it became obvious that some items can be produced much faster than others. Taking this into consideration, we’ve decided to withdraw our 5” pizzas for the remainder of this 21-22 school year.

November 11, 2021 Update As the 21-22 school year evolves, many Covid-19 related issues have risen to the forefront. For example, staffing & labor issues, trucking shortages, distributor warehouses overloaded and understaffed, raw material shortages, etc. When any of these issues occur, it affects our ability to fulfill orders.
Yang's Due to the large volume of K-12 orders and a limited supply of raw material, effective today Yangs is forced to implement a 35-business day (7 weeks) lead time for all K-12 pack items containing chicken.
This extended lead time does not affect non-chicken items such as rice or chow mein, or any foodservice or retail packaged products.
September 25 Update Our production plants are experiencing an extreme shortage of deboned chicken. Daily, we wait for delayed delivery trucks, and our workers and machines start and stop according to sporadic availability. Currently, all unconfirmed orders and all new orders for Yangs chicken products are subject to a 12–15-week lead time. Non-chicken items (rice and chow mein) are subject to a 20-business day lead time.
A Zerega As everyone is aware, our fill rates over the last couple of months have been significantly lower than normal. I wanted to address the issues that have caused us to not perform up to our usual standards. Unfortunately, we have an almost perfect “imperfect” storm. PMC/Zerega has experienced significant supply chain issues on multiple fronts.
