April 2022 Update We continue to experience unprecedented supply chain challenges that prevent us from meeting the current marketplace demand for our products. The recent Omicron surge has greatly impacted our suppliers’ ability to produce the ingredients and packaging materials necessary to meet demand for our products. While these staffing shortages due directly to Omicron have subsided, the labor market for manufacturing remains extremely tight and our suppliers are working to catch up from lost production. We currently do not have a firm date when we will be back in full supply. This is due to the unprecedented nature of the current global supply chain situation.

When coupled with seasonal weather, you get a mess of delays that will likely continue to impact loads throughout the remainder of the month. Read the full update here.
April 14 Update Unfortunately, despite our significant capital investments and stringent biosecurity protocols, one of our Nebraska farms recently confirmed a positive case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). Mount Franklin Foods Mount Franklin Foods always works diligently to manage our costs so that we can delay price increases for as long as possible. Nordic Group April 2022 Update Recent world events are affecting our business in various ways. Our supply channels are under renewed stress of raw material shortages which invariably leads to price increases. We have been forced to adjust our prices on Cod and European Lakefish in order to help our suppliers stay competitive in accessing the raw material to keep the production going for us. Sanctions and duty barriers are changing the established supply pattern making it very difficult to forecast the supply, but we continue to do what we can to keep our customers with product. We thank you for your patience and understanding in dealing with this situation.

Olsen Fish Historically, our herring has been harvested and shipped from New Foundland. We have also sourced herring from Norway to provdie a certified sustainable herring in recent years along with supplementing the shortfalls of available herring from Canada. We are stuck in a perfect storm because the fishery in Canada has yet to harvest a single ton of herring.
The situation is frim for the short term and could not come at a worse time for the herring sales during holiday season. Unfortunately, we have exhausted all of our efforts and must now start pushing back orders and shorting some products on orders until our herring can be replenished.

We are encouraging and stressing all customers provide at least 15 business day lead time on orders.

Due to these factors, par fry products will be servicing below our targeted standards through Q1 2022.

I want to make you aware of some of the reasons that you have seen shortages on the Upstate Farms label products over the past few weeks. The key drivers of these shortages are raw materials and packaging. We have always been mindful of controlling our inventory to ensure consistent supply of product to our customer.
Commodity Oils Market Update The year 2021 has continually shown surprising and unprecedented volatility and has made the year adventurous for traders as well as customers. It is looking like the new year will also provide firm pricing and some product tightness. The Canola crop harvest was very short which will limit supply and put pressure on other oils to make up for the shortfall. The Government mandates for biofuels may have a large impact on Soy Oils in the future. The supply of Cottonseed will remain weak for the upcoming and the supply of all High Oleic Oilseeds will remain extremely tight for the pack-year. Traders are uncertain of how the markets will react in the coming months based on the many unknown factors which impact costs. We do know that supply and demand will be closely monitored by Suppliers and that prices will not be returning down to historic levels any time soon.
Ventura Ventura Foods’ modified food starch suppliers recently imposed allocations on the products they provide to us. Unfortunately, this will require us to impose similar allocations on our finished goods that contain modified food starch. We will communicate any potential allocation impact on your finished goods in the upcoming days as we receive more information from our suppliers. We anticipate these allocations will last for 8 to 12 weeks. Read the full update here.

We believe this situation will continue until weather conditions improve and processors resume normal shipments.

Wild Mike's The current climate has caused us to evaluate how can we get more pizza servings out to the K-12 industry. In our evaluation it became obvious that some items can be produced much faster than others. Taking this into consideration, we’ve decided to withdraw our 5” pizzas for the remainder of this 21-22 school year.

November 11, 2021 Update As the 21-22 school year evolves, many Covid-19 related issues have risen to the forefront. For example, staffing & labor issues, trucking shortages, distributor warehouses overloaded and understaffed, raw material shortages, etc. When any of these issues occur, it affects our ability to fulfill orders.
Yang's Due to the large volume of K-12 orders and a limited supply of raw material, effective today Yangs is forced to implement a 35-business day (7 weeks) lead time for all K-12 pack items containing chicken.
This extended lead time does not affect non-chicken items such as rice or chow mein, or any foodservice or retail packaged products.
September 25 Update Our production plants are experiencing an extreme shortage of deboned chicken. Daily, we wait for delayed delivery trucks, and our workers and machines start and stop according to sporadic availability. Currently, all unconfirmed orders and all new orders for Yangs chicken products are subject to a 12–15-week lead time. Non-chicken items (rice and chow mein) are subject to a 20-business day lead time.
