Job Title: Chemical and Beverage Service/Sales Consultant Reports to: Chemical Beverage Manager Date: January 2021 Status: Salaried, Exempt
This position is for the North Central Wisconsin territory (Stevens Point, Wausau, Rhinelander).
Position Summary: This position entails two components: (1) Sales of chemical and beverage products & programs, and (2) Service & installation of chemical and beverage equipment. Responsible for working directly with Customers, sales force and vendors to provide timely, complete, and dependable sales & service in a professional manner.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish, develop, and manage business and account relationships within the foodservice marketplace through effective selling, servicing, product knowledge and technology.
Utilize an effective and efficient contact system with Customers and sales force to make them aware of the available services & products.
Provide/assist in service of all chemical & beverage equipment—including emergency service—on a timely basis and satisfactorily resolve the Customer’s service issues and needs. Responsible for being available for service five days a week and on a rotating weekend and holiday schedule.
Maintain adequate records to assure high-level of service to all Customers and keep accurate records of all assigned inventory of parts and equipment. Reports to be submitted to Supervisors and Managers, as required.
Represent company in a professional manner, including professional attire. Maintain a professional image with care, maintenance, appearance (inside & out) of van used for IFD Customer contacts.
Provide guidance and recommendations to Customers, and prescribe chemical and beverage products and equipment based on their needs and requirements.
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management to fulfill responsibilities of this position.
Work Relationships and Scope: Works directly with IFD Customers. Main relationships include: Customers, Foodservice Consultants, and Chemical Beverage Manager. Close working relationships with all departments of the company is important to the success of this role. Demonstrated development and growth of chemical and beverage business that meets or exceeds established goals.
Successful evaluation of Customer potential utilizing Customers present purchasing patterns, and growth of product lines with existing Customers.
Servicing of all equipment at a high standard, as demonstrated Customer retention.
Timeliness, accuracy, and neatness in record-keeping, and providing required reports.
Accomplishes, on an annual basis, further education, training, and enrichment which contributes to the success and continued improvement of the job functions, and enhances job performance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: The Chemical/Beverage Rep must possess the following:
Strong verbal communication skills, both in person and on telephone, and adequate written communication skills. Fluency in English required.
Basic arithmetic skills (ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide.)
Must possess skills in maintenance and service of equipment, operation of power & hand tools, familiarity with electrical and plumbing applications, and skills in trouble-shooting.
Deal effectively with time pressures, stress, and multi-tasking; and the ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of people.
Experienced and proficient with personal computer and laptop operation.
Valid driver license required; as is requirement to meet the Company’s Fleet Safety Program Driver Qualifications, Requirements, and Guidelines as it pertains to driving record.
Manual dexterity & ability to identify and differentiate color.
High school diploma or equivalent. Some college helpful and sales experience a plus.
Ability to sit in a vehicle (van) and drive up to 70% of the time.
Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, climb, balance, and reach. Must be able to lift 100 pounds or more, and push or pull weights exceeding 100 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed mainly in the field. Service calls will require maintenance to be performed on site under a wide variety of conditions. Job to include availability seven days per week (on call). Some overnight travel and weekend work may be required.
